From Southern California to Anchorage, Alaska

Thursday, September 21, 2006

We headed out around 8am so we could make it to Seattle around 11am. My car was packed to the max, I had to fit everything in it that I wanted up in Alaska with me.
The Suburban had my couch in the back and mattresses strapped to the top. I followed my mom so I could make sure those mattresses weren't going anywhere. We met my dad in Tacoma and headed for Seattle Port.
Once at the port I had to weigh my car, which was around 5350 lbs, then they labeled my couch, car, and mattresses.
I handed over my keys so they could get my car and stuff all cozied into a crate for the 10 day boat ride ahead.

Had to say goodbye to the Jetta, it was sort of sad to see it go.....

but had to trade up to something more Alaska worthy/ready, I don't think I am going to miss the Jetta too much!! I had to find and buy a car on Tuesday, because I had to have a car packed and up to Seattle to catch the Barge by Thursday morning.

Last chance to soak in the California sunThe day before I left, I wanted to spend the day at one of my favorite beaches, Santa Monica.
I am going to miss the palm trees and warm sandy beaches, not to mention the beautiful sunsets.
Ryan flew in from Pheonix to see me before I left and My dad came down to help me drive the truck up to Washington.
Just hanging around having some fun
Yes, I did make it to that ring, just maybe not the next one.

So I decided to move to Anchorage, AK, I hope for a exciting adventure, since the first time to Alaska will be when all my stuff is already shipped and I fly in to actually live there. I am very excited, yet have no idea of what to expect. I have an appartment waiting for me, and am waiting on my license to come through so I can actually work when I get there.

It's amazing how much stuff I have collected over the four years living down here in California, I rented a 16ft Penske truck to haul all of my stuff up. After I had all my reservations done, Justin had decided to move back up to Washington, packed up all his stuff and his girlfriends stuff in the the same truck, so much for plenty of room.
